Q. What is the cost of the program?

A. The tuition is $5,900.00. The tuition includes lab fees, supplies, text books, and all of the equipment and other materials for the course. It does not include and the school does not provide for food, housing, clothing, personal safety equipment, or transportation.

Q. How do I get financing?

A. We finance through Sallie Mae. SLM will make a loan for the tuition of the program and an additional $3,500.00 for expenses while going through the program. After the student goes through orientation, he/she will be given a contact name and a start date. With this information, he/she may apply to SLM for financing.

Q. How long is your program?

A. The program is nine weeks. It consists of 150 hours of classroom training. The student will learn, practice and demonstrate 167 specific trade skills relevant to becoming a heavy equipment operator.

Q. What are the 167 specific trade skills?

A. I strongly suggest that you contact some of our graduates and ask them this question. Also ask them if the school was worth the money. If the training lacked something that they needed to know and if they would recommend the program. They are your best source to find out about the program trade skills.

Q. How often do classes start?

A. The classes are continuous and there are students graduating and starting each week. We can do this because each week is a separate skill development program in itself.

Q. Do you have housing?

A. There is a mobile home on site for up to three students. The cost is $100.00 per week. Bunkhouse rules apply.

Q. Do you have job placement assistance?

A. For every 10 students we have at lease 50 companies hiring operators. In addition, we have a “real” national registry where contractors may go and get your name and phone number to hire you. Finally, we provide job search training.

Q. What type of equipment do you train on?

A. We train operating engineers. An operating engineer is one who is capable of getting on any piece of equipment (construction or mining) and in a relatively short period of time become productive with that piece of equipment. Our intentions are to train you on 9 different pieces of equipment. Backhoe, Dozer, Trencher, Skip Loader Grader, Excavator, and Wheel Loader. All the equipment is fairly new.

Q. Is there any age limit for attending the school?

A. Yes, the law requires you to be 18 years old.

Q. What if I do not have my Diploma or GED?

A. You will be required to take and pass an ability to benefit test. This test is offered by an independent company who will forward to us the results. You will get the information on how to set this up at the orientation.

Q. Are there any other qualifications for taking this program?

A. Yes. You will need to go through an orientation. There are vision and some physical considerations. You will need to speak and understand English. You will be required to take a pledge.
